White Star Bulb Company’s songwriting is infused with a very distinctive flavour that's all its own. Encamped in his Suffolk studio, main man Ecki consistently refuses to accept labels being placed on his brand of singer-songwriting, instead electing to realise his ideas and commit them to tape.

Beginning with the debut release, “Punchdrunk” White Star Bulb Company have continued with such a focus with the next three albums “Mono”, “Dice” and “Engineers” collectively all of which met with warm critical reviews including The Independent critic Andy Gill's shrewd assessment of his craft: "Ecki is clearly a man whose muse operates primarily in shades of blue, but that includes open sky as well as dark, oceanic depths”. Other achievements include many gigs nationwide including supporting such artists as The Frames, Bob Mould, Ian Dury and Duke Special to name but a few, festival performances (including Cambridge Folk Festival and The Secret Garden Party) and many live radio sessions including Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music.

Although Ecki cites John Martyn, Jellyfish, Tim Buckley and Shawn Colvin among his musical influences, he rarely, if ever, sounds like any of them, as his songwriting and his vocal ability to deliver both carry a distinct flavour of their own.

Currently working on the fifth album with contributions from legendary double bassist Danny Thompson (John Martyn, Richard Thompson, Nick Drake, Talk Talk, Peter Gabriel), drummer Alex Reeves (Elbow, Bat For Lashes, Dizzee Rascal) and Lowell “Banana” Levinger (The Youngbloods) amongst many others White Star Bulb Company’s work continues unabated.
